Years of effort! We've accomplished a lot in our first 5 years...

We've put some great programs in place in the last 5 years… co-op ads; scholarships; litter & grafitti removal; Seniors Day; Winter Celebration; street banners; our web site; adopt-a-block; event sponsorship… All great traffic builders for the Drive – and all good spin for this already great neighbourhood.

You told us you like a lot of what we've been doing, and you want more of it! Consensus: expand our successes and fill in the gaps. Your weighted responses were used to develop our 5 year plan.

You told us that Safety and Security is a high priority. This is a program that we've never funded and, clearly, the time is now.

At the AGM, you told us contracting a 2 Person Bike Patrol, 5 days/week in summer and 4 days/week in winter was a good place to start. In addition to this plan, we are looking at improving existing street lighting and new lighting plans that would set Commercial Drive apart as the truly unique neighbourhood that it is.

The objectives you stressed as priorities included: bumping up litter pick-up to 7 days a week; expanding the web site; zero tolerance on graffiti, including back, front, sides, and upper levels of buildings; increasing our advertising reach; pro-active lobbying for improved legal/judicial/social policies; and boosting the entertainment factor – buskers, events, venues – the stuff that makes this one great neighbourhood!

Well... our new operating budget kicked in April 1, 2005 and we're getting busy. Watch for the changes and thanks for your vote of approval!
