Italy has always been associated with classic style. An unmatched sense of design is Italy’s first and foremost export. This wealth is founded on centuries of Italians making things beautifully and with care, passing down traditional artisanal methods from generation to generation. Made in Italy means the marriage of masterful design and artisan technique. It means superior quality. It is what makes Italy unique among all others. Combine this tied up in images of La Dolce Vita – it is no wonder that the Italian brand is both globally and locally embraced unlike any other. For Italian Day 2014 – we celebrate Made in Italy from inventions to Italian goods and lifestyle – products of Italian history and culture found in our very own backyard.
Come celebrate this heritage with us from noon to 8pm on June 8th and enjoy authentic food, visits from local Italian athletes, live music and a raffle courtesy of our sponsors.
This year’s raffle prizes include a handcrafted armchair from Stylus Sofas, premium seats and the Pre-Match Experience at Whitecaps FC’s Italian Heritage Night, and a grand prize of a trip to Italy for two courtesy of Columbus World Travel and the Italian Day Festival Society. Proceeds from the raffle go to Dream Big Productions, a highly successful youth program operating out of Templeton Secondary School. This year, Dream Big is running the “Summervisions Film Institute for Youth” and we are very excited to help them pay for their equipment.
The Italian Cultural Center has coordinated the Little Italy Kids Zone with arts and crafts, face painting and many more fun activities. In addition, Whitecaps FC will operate a kicking cage throughout the day and the Whitecaps mascot will make an appearance. The festival’s museum will feature Italian inventions such as the radio, bicycle and the coffee machine that express this year’s theme. A number of Italian cars of all sizes will also be on display in a celebration of Italian innovations in the automotive industry.
