Italian Day on The Drive 2014

Jun 8, 2014 12:00:pm to 08:00:pm
Italy has always been associated with classic style. An unmatched sense of design is Italy’s first and foremost export. This wealth is founded on centuries of Italians making things beautifully and with care, passing down traditional artisanal methods from generation to generation. Made in Italy means the marriage of masterful design and artisan technique. It means superior quality. It is what makes Italy unique among all others. Combine this tied up in images of La Dolce Vita – it is no wonder that the Italian brand is both globally and locally embraced unlike any other. For Italian Day 2014 – we celebrate Made in Italy from inventions to Italian goods and lifestyle – products of Italian history and culture found in our very own backyard.

Italian Day on the Drive! 2013 was an amazing success! And the 2014 celebration promises to be bigger and better!

As anyone who made their way to Commercial Drive for 2013's Italian Day can tell you that event drew a huge crowd. Estimates range from 200,000 to 400,000!

People came to embrace everything that is Italian: food, music, fashion, dance, art, sport, history and community. Check out the photos of some of 2013's hi-lites and see the media coverage.

For Italian Day 2013 - the Italian Day Festival Society is excited to offer 'a first' in the form of a street festival to the city of Vancouver: the world famous 'Carnevale di Venezia' when the event's 'dolce vita' signature extends itself to Venice. In the heart of Vancouver's 'Little Italy', The Drive will come alive 'Venetian style' with masks, costumes, street entertainers, music, food, fashion, contests and more!

From a business perspective, the street festival also engages merchants, vendors and partners, providing an opportunity to present, demonstrate and sell products/services to the attendees.  It offers an exclusive vehicle of exposure with an immensely captivated audience.

The overwhelming reception to Italian Day and its continued success is largely attributed to the support and contributions of our family of supporters: our sponsors, the City of Vancouver, event partners, media, participants, and the dedication of our volunteers and interns. Our goal is nurture these alliances while also attracting more support through our community and our partners, reinforcing this valuable event for the city of Vancouver and the tribute it pays to our Italian heritage and the historical significance of 'The Drive'.

This video will give you a taste of last year's festivities and the atmosphere on the Drive for this fantastic event.
