The celebration of Commercial Drive’s Italian Day continues… WHERE: Italian Cultural Centre – 3075 Slocan St. , Vancouver.
WHEN: Sunday June 20 (Opening Day) through Saturday June 26, 2010 Vancouver – On Sunday June 20 The Italian Cultural Centre presents ITALIAN WEEK 2010! The celebration kicks off with Italy’s World Cup match against New Zealand at 7:00 am, followed by a Father’s Day breakfast, the Italian Week grand opening ceremony and an afternoon of entertainment, food and Italian-style fun! EVENT DETAILS:

GRAND OPENING: Sunday June 20 – World Cup match at 7:00 am in the Grand Ballroom (12’ HD screen) and in the Osteria on our new 60” HD TV sponsored by Vancity!
Post-game Father’s Day breakfast featuring a delicious assortment of hot and cold breakfast favourites with an Italian flare! (Buffet Menu price $15.00 per person).
At 12 noon we’ll celebrate the grand opening of Italian Week with a ceremony followed by an afternoon full of family fun, entertainment and delicious Italian food! Guests will enjoy market vendors, music, dancing, a grape-stomping competition and much more Italian fun! The soccer action continues with ICSF (Italian Canadian Sports Federation www.icsf.ca) games at Beaconsfield Park starting at 1:00 pm.

Monday June 21 – A magnificent Musical Journey with the wonderful Vancouver Italian Folk Chorus, featuring celebrated arias and melodies. At 7:30 pm, in the Ballroom. FREE ADMISSION

Tuesday June 22 – A Trio of Italian Choirs An unforgettable musical experience featuring the passion and talent of the Italian Choir of BC, the Trevigiano-Veneto Folk Group, the Italian Men’s Choir and guests the AVC Melody Choir. At 7:30 pm in the Ballroom. FREE ADMISSION

Wednesday June 23 – Napoli Milionaria The Eduardo De Filippo Theatre Group will perform one of the most famous comedies of De Filippo for an unforgettable Italian theatrical evening. At 7:30 pm in the Ballroom, the performance is in Italian and Neapolitan dialect. FREE ADMISSION

Thursday June 24 – Terre di Mare Singer Anna Maria Castelli, with Simone Guiducci on the guitars and Thomas Sinigaglia on the accordion, will interprete famous songs by great authors celebrating the sea. Under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy, this event is presented in collaboration by the Italian Cultural Centre and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. At 7:30 pm in the Ballroom. FREE ADMISSION

Friday June 25 – The Voice of the Night – Be part of our own “Italian Idol” show! Enjoy performances by a very gifted group of young singers who are competing to win the grand prize of $1000! A lively evening of great entertainment and competitive enthusiasm. Produced and presented by Carmelina Cupo. At 7:30 pm in the Ballroom. FREE ADMISSION

Saturday June 26 – Join us for the culmination of Italian Week 2010 at a grand banquet! The Festa delle Regioni closing banquet and dance, including the presentation of the Immigrant of the Year Award to a member of the Italian community. The multi-course, multi-regional menu created by our Head Chef Rebecca Johnson, features an Italian antipasto, (Calabria, Puglia, Emilia Romagna), Trofie pasta with pesto, green beans and potato (Liguria), Platters of Saffron Seafood Risotto (Lombardia), Roasted Tuscan Chicken with lemon and tarragon (Tuscany), Cod fillet with citrus and fennel sauce served on platters (Sicily) and a Stunning Italian Dessert Duo (Sardegna, Veneto). Tickets: $50.00 each (incl. 3 bottles of wine per table of 12)
