Stonewall

Resurrected in 2006 by the Vancouver Pride Society, Stonewall is celebrated in the East Vancouver's Grandview Park on Commercial Drive between 11am-4pm.

Stonewall is the name of a bar in New York City that has become synonomous with political activism in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities throughout the western world. On June 27, 1969, a riot at Stonewall ensued after police tried to arrest gay patrons. Chroniclers of the GLBT rights movement trace the beginnings of the movement to this single landmark incident.
