Commercial Drive Passport:
To The Spirit of 2010 on The Drive!

February 10 - March 21, 2010 on The Drive. This show will visually exhibit the spirit of 2010 during the Olympics!

This multi-venue art show on Commercial Drive features 200 pieces of original art – all by individuals living with mental health disabilities. Many are celebrated artists in the community and have exhibited at events such as the Eastside Culture Crawl.

Themes reflect Olympic and Paralympic values of friendship, solidarity, peace, optimism, inspiration, fair play and empowerment.

All the art is for sale, with 100% of the proceeds going to the artists.


The Drive PassportPick up your free passport to The Spirit of 2010 on the Drive from any of the participating venues listed below. Have at least 10 participating venues initial their square. Cut off the completed card, attach a stamp on the back where indicated and mail it no later than March 31, 2010 for a chance to win an original artwork and a $500 VISA voucher!

About the Event Organizers:

Kettle Friendship Society Changing Lives, Building Community

The Kettle makes a difference in the lives of individuals living with mental illness in Metro Vancouver 365 days a year by providing supported housing, employment and training, advocacy and pport services. We help raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace, on the streets and in our families by breaking down barriers to promote inclusion of all people living with mental illness in all aspects of life.

The Kettle began in 1976 when volunteers came together in a little storefront on Commercial Drive and now provides 3,500 individuals with 26 services, a transition house and over 200 units of supported housing. To learn more visit: www.thekettle.ca

Commercial Drive Business Society

This Business Improvement Area (BIA) helps promote Commercial Drive as the most unique, destination shopping district in the City. In addition to assisting merchants, this BIA sponsors and promotes many community initiatives such as Summer Cinema in the Parks, Parade of Lost Souls, Winter Festival, East Side Culture Crawl and Illuminaires.
